We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register, create stories, place orders, or contact us. This may include:
- Names, including the account holder's name and names used as story characters.

Information automatically collected
In Short: Some information, such as your IP address and browser/device characteristics, is collected automatically when you use our Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you visit or use the Services. This does not reveal your specific identity but may include IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, and information about how and when you use our Services, including interaction data such as clicks, scrolls, and session activity captured through analytics tools. We collect this primarily to maintain security and operation, and for analytics and reporting. We also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.
This information includes log and usage data, device data, and location data, which can be precise or imprecise based on your device settings. You can opt out through your device settings, though some features may not work.
Google API
Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. How We Handle Uploaded Photos and Children's Images
In Short: Uploaded photos are processed transiently to create a cartoon character. We do not keep the original photo. Only the generated character image is stored.
When you upload a photo, it is sent to our AI image provider to be converted into a stylized, cartoon character. We do not retain the original uploaded photograph after this conversion. The only image we store on your account is the AI-generated character image, which is a stylized illustration derived from the photo you provided.
Because our Services are built around creating books featuring children, family members, and pets, photos you upload may depict children. We want to be clear about how this works:
- Transient processing of the original. The original photo you upload is transmitted to our AI image provider, currently OpenAI, for the sole purpose of generating a stylized character image. We do not retain the original photo in our systems after the generated image is produced.
- What we store. We store the resulting AI-generated character image on your account, along with the stories and books you create using it. This generated image is a stylized illustration based on the likeness of the person in the photo.
- Disclosure to the AI provider. To perform the conversion, the original photo is shared with our AI image provider, which processes the image to fulfill the request. We encourage you to review the AI provider's terms and privacy practices (see Section 6).
- Your responsibility for uploads. You may only upload photos you own or are authorized to use, and only photos of yourself, your children, family members, pets, or other approved subjects for whom you have the right and authority to provide an image. You must not upload copyrighted characters, celebrity likenesses, trademarks, or any content you do not have the legal right to use.
If you upload a photo of a child, you represent that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, or are otherwise authorized to provide the photo and to consent to its processing as described here. See Section 12 for more on how we handle children's information.
3. How Do We Process Your Information?

4. What Legal Bases Do We Rely On to Process Your Information?
In Short: We only process your personal information when we have a valid legal reason to do so.
If you are located in the EU or UK, the GDPR and UK GDPR require us to explain the legal bases we rely on. These may include:
- Consent. You have given us permission to process your information for a specific purpose, including your consent, as a parent or guardian, to process a child's image. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract. To provide the Services you have requested.
- Legitimate interests, such as improving the Services, supporting marketing, and preventing fraud, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

7. Do We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies?
In Short: We may use cookies and similar technologies to collect and store information.
We use necessary cookies to operate the Services, including login, account access, checkout, fraud prevention, security, and remembering your cookie preferences. Necessary cookies cannot be disabled through our cookie preference controls because the Services depend on them.
With your consent, we use analytics cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the Services and improve performance. These analytics tools currently include Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. You can opt out of Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. For more information, see Google's Privacy & Terms page at https://policies.google.com/privacy and Microsoft's privacy statement at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
With your consent, we use marketing cookies, pixels, and conversion APIs to measure advertising performance and improve ad relevance. These marketing tools currently include Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API, which may use browser identifiers such as Meta click and browser cookies to attribute visits, checkouts, purchases, account registrations, and lead submissions. To the extent these activities are deemed a "sale" or "sharing" under applicable US state laws, you can opt out by disabling marketing cookies in our cookie preferences as described in Section 15.
You can change your cookie choices at any time through the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer or, if you have an account, in your account security settings. Cookie choices are stored on your browser for approximately 90 days unless you clear cookies or we update the consent version after material privacy or tracking changes.
8. How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?
In Short: If you register using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.
Our Services may let you register or log in using third-party social media account details. Where you do this, we may receive profile information such as your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this information only for the purposes described in this notice. We recommend you review your social media provider's privacy notice to understand their practices.
9. Is Your Information Transferred Internationally?
In Short: We store and process your information primarily in the United States.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you are accessing our Services from outside the US, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed by us and our service providers in the United States and other countries. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, these countries may not have data protection laws as comprehensive as those in your country; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which can be provided upon request.
10. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
In Short: We keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this notice, unless a longer period is required by law.
We keep your account information and the AI-generated images and books in your account for as long as you maintain an account with us. As described in Section 2, we do not retain original uploaded photos after the character image is generated. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your information, we will delete or anonymize it, or securely isolate it until deletion is possible.
11. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?
In Short: We aim to protect your information through appropriate technical and organizational measures.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your personal information. Not retaining original uploaded photos is part of our data-minimization approach. However, no electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorized third parties will never defeat our security. Transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk.
12. How We Handle Children's Information
In Short: Our Services are intended for adults, who may create books featuring children for whom they are the parent, guardian, or otherwise authorized.
Our Services are designed to let adults create personalized books that feature children. Because of this, we knowingly process images and information relating to children, but only when provided by an adult account holder who has the authority and consent to do so. Accordingly:
- Accounts are for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account and use the Services. The Services are not directed to children, and children may not create accounts or use the Services directly.
- Parental/guardian authority and consent. By uploading a photo of a child, you represent and warrant that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you are otherwise authorized to provide that photo and to consent, on the child's behalf, to the processing described in this notice, including Section 2.
- What we process about children. We process a child's photo transiently to generate a stylized character image, which is then stored on the account along with the stories and books created. We do not retain the original uploaded photo.
- No direct collection from children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, market to children, or sell children's personal information.
- Parental controls and deletion. As the account holder, you can review, edit, and delete the generated images, stories, and books associated with a child at any time through your account, or by contacting us at support@wsprtales.com. You can also delete your entire account.
- If a child has used the Services without authorization. If we learn that a child has created an account or that information has been provided without the required parental or guardian authority, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable steps to delete the related information. If you believe a child's information has been provided without proper authority, contact us at support@wsprtales.com.
13. What Are Your Privacy Rights?
In Short: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information.
In some regions, such as the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada, you have rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right to request access to and a copy of your personal information, to request correction or erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and, where applicable, to data portability. You may also have the right not to be subject to solely automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.
You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@wsprtales.com. We will consider and act on any request in accordance with applicable law.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we are unlawfully processing your information, you may complain to your Member State data protection authority or the UK data protection authority. If you are in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Withdrawing your consent. If we are relying on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Opting out of marketing. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us. We may still send service-related messages necessary for the administration of your account.
Account information. You can review or change your account information, or terminate your account, by logging into your account settings or contacting us. Upon termination, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases, though we may retain limited information to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, or comply with legal requirements.
14. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature you can activate. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. If a standard is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.
California law requires us to disclose how we respond to DNT signals; because no standard currently exists, we do not respond to them at this time.
